Acceptance

By opening any page of Classroom Timer you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short: the site is a set of free browser tools with no accounts and no transactions, so most of the machinery a terms document usually needs simply does not apply. If you do not agree, please do not use the tools.

What the service is

Classroom Timer provides free, browser-based countdown timers, a visual timer and an online stopwatch, together with explanatory content in six languages. Everything runs in your browser. The site is offered as-is: features may be added, changed or removed as the project evolves, and page content may be corrected or expanded at any time.

Fair use

The tools are free for everyone — teachers, students, schools, coaches, offices, kitchens — with two conditions:

1. No automated abuse. Do not attempt to overload, scrape at scale, probe or disrupt the service, and do not misrepresent the site's pages as your own product.
2. No illegal use. Do not use the site in violation of applicable law.

Normal classroom and personal use, including heavy daily use and projection on shared screens, is exactly what the site is for.

Accuracy: what is promised and what is not

The countdown engine is designed to be drift-free: it anchors on a recorded finish time rather than counting ticks, so background tabs, sleep and slow devices do not corrupt the remaining time. This is a genuine engineering commitment, and bug reports about drift are welcome.

It is not a guarantee of absolute availability or fitness for a particular purpose. Specifically:

• The site is a web page: if your browser closes, the tab is lost, or the network drops before the page loads, the timer cannot run or sound.
• Alarms cannot play while a device is asleep, and very quiet or muted systems may make no audible signal. For any situation where a missed signal has real consequences — exams, medical timing, safety processes — always use a redundant method alongside any browser timer, including this one.
• Time displayed derives from your device's clock and browser environment. The site does not control them.

No accounts, no user content

The site offers no registration and no publication features. You cannot upload, store or share content through the timers, so these terms do not need a user-generated-content section. Your alarm sound preference stays in your browser and remains yours; see the privacy policy for details.

Intellectual property

Site content. The text, layout, code and graphics of this site are the property of the project and its authors. You may link to any page freely, quote short passages with attribution, and use the timers as much as you like; republishing whole pages or presenting the site as your own is not permitted.

Open components. The site builds on open-source libraries and system fonts, used under their respective licenses, and claims no ownership over them.

Trademarks. Product names and brands mentioned for descriptive purposes remain the property of their owners.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The countdown, alarm, fullscreen and stopwatch features depend on browsers and devices the project does not control, and their behavior can vary across versions and platforms.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the project and its maintainers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, time or opportunity, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the service. Because the service is provided free of charge, your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using it. Nothing here limits liability where law does not allow it to be limited.

Availability

The project aims for the site to be fast and reliable, but does not promise uninterrupted availability, and may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at its discretion. Timers that matter should, as a rule of thumb, always have a backup plan — the same advice as above.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the service evolves. The "last updated" date on this page changes with every revision, and material changes are described in the updated text rather than buried. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing note

The project is offered on the terms above as a general contract of use. Where mandatory local consumer law applies to you, that law takes precedence over any conflicting clause here to the extent required.
