Privacy Policy

The summary

Classroom Timer is a set of free, browser-based timing tools. The short version of this policy: the site has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no timer history and no advertising. The only thing the timers store on you is your alarm sound preference, kept in your own browser's local storage. This page explains that in full, describes the limited technical data any website necessarily processes, and states your choices.

What the site stores

Alarm sound preference. When you pick Bell, Chime, Beep or Mute, that choice is saved in your browser's localStorage under a single key. It never leaves your device, is not readable by other websites, and disappears when you clear your browser's site data. That is the complete list of things the timers write.

No accounts. There is no registration, no login and no profile anywhere on this site. Nothing connects your use of the timers to an identity, because no identity is ever collected.

No timer history. Countdown sessions, stopwatch laps and custom durations are not saved to any server. Laps vanish when the page reloads — deliberately, so a shared classroom computer never exposes the previous class's session.

No advertising cookies. The site runs no ad networks, no tracking pixels and no social plug-ins, so there are no third-party cookies to consent to or refuse.

What any website technically processes

Like every site on the web, the server that hosts these pages receives standard technical requests when your browser loads them: your IP address, the URL requested, the time of the request, and the browser user-agent. This is infrastructure-level logging needed to serve pages and keep the service secure. It is not used to build profiles, is not shared with third parties for marketing, and is retained only as long as operation and security require.

If analytics are enabled in the future, this page will be updated before that happens, describing what is measured and offering an opt-out. As of the date above, the pages run without analytics.

How the timers use browser features

Web Audio API. Alarm sounds are synthesized in your browser. No audio files are downloaded, and no microphone access of any kind is requested or used.

Fullscreen API. The fullscreen mode is triggered only by your click on the Fullscreen button or your press of the F key, and ends with the same control or the Esc key.

localStorage. Used solely for the alarm sound preference described above. The site never uses localStorage for tracking, fingerprinting or session recording.

Document title. While a timer runs, the tab title shows the remaining time so you can follow it from another window. This touches only your own browser tab and resets when the countdown ends.

Children and students

The timers are built for classrooms, which means they are built for children. That fact drives the design: no accounts, no data collection, no behavioral tracking, no chat, no uploads and no way for one user to contact another. A student who opens these pages sees a countdown — nothing that asks for a name, an email or a birth year. Teachers can project the site on a shared screen without exposing any class information, because none exists on the device beyond the sound preference.

Third parties

Hosting. The pages are served by a commercial hosting provider which processes requests as described in the technical section above.

Fonts and images. The site uses your system's fonts and its own icon and illustration assets. It loads fonts, tracking scripts or embeds from no third party.

Search engines. Like any public page, these pages may be indexed by search engines. Sitemap and hreflang information is published for that purpose; it describes pages, not people.

Data retention and deletion

Because almost nothing is stored, deletion is mostly automatic: clear your browser storage for this site and even the sound preference is gone. Server-side request logs are kept for the short period needed for operation and abuse prevention, then discarded. There are no databases of user content to export or erase, because the timers never create any.

Your choices

• Use every tool on the site without providing any personal information — this requires no action, as it is the default state.
• Clear or block localStorage for this site at any time; only the alarm sound choice is affected.
• Run the site with common content blockers enabled; nothing breaks, because nothing external is loaded.
• Contact the project through the channel published on the contact page with any privacy question; unclear answers get fixed in the policy itself.

Changes to this policy

If the privacy posture of the site ever changes — for example if a privacy-respecting analytics tool is added — this page will be updated with a new "last updated" date and the change will be described in plain language at the top of the relevant section. The project's commitment is simple: the timers stay free, account-free and tracker-free, and any future feature that cannot honor that will not ship.
